Europe's most important goal is the integration for the safeguarding of peace and prosperity, i.e. free movement of goods and free internal market without trade barriers for the strengthening of the competitiveness of the European industry. This includes the harmonization in the area of construction products as well. For years Deutsches Institut für Bautechnik has been actively participating in this continuous process by issuing European technical approvals as German approval body, by participating in the European standardization and by working on committees of the European Commission – construction sector. In its capacity as approval body DIBt is a member of EOTA (European Organisation for Technical Approvals) and UEAtc (The European Union of Agrément).
