Tanks and collecting devices made of glass-fibre reinforced plastic (GFRP)
Tanks and collecting devices made of plastic are especially suitable for liquids hazardous to water because they often have a more favourable corrosion behaviour than metal tanks and hence are resistant to various storage media (chemicals). In addition, they combine low material weight with high strengths.
The tanks are available in various variants, single-skin, double-skin, horizontal or vertical, with or without secondary containment, with thermoplastic lining or with chemical protection or non-woven layer.
Regulatory framework
DIBt grants national technical approvals (abZ)/general construction technique permits (aBG) for these products and the corresponding applications (construction techniques), confirming that both the construction and the water law requirements have been met. The products and construction techniques are thus deemed to be suitable in accordance with Section 63 of the Water Resources Act (WHG).
National procedure
A national technical approval (abZ) and/or oder general construction technique permit (aBG) is granted upon application (see Model Building Code (MBO), Sections 16a(2) and18(2) and (4)). This also applies to amendments and supplements to, or renewals of existing approvals and/or construction technique permits.
No formal requirements apply. The following information is needed: name and address of the applicant, description of the product and/or construction technique and its field of use or application, type of decision required (new decision, amendment or supplement to, or renewal of, an existing decision).
